On top of the World in Barcelona with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

The European tour has ended in the world famous Nou Camp Stadium in the Springsteen stronghold of Barcelona, home of FC Barcelona. Two shows to a combined audience of around 150,000 people, have witnessed the end of a truly great tour, with a number of highlights in 2 differing shows in Barcelona.

Night one is a more 'pop' orientated affair, whereas Night two is perhaps targetted more towards the hardcore fanbase. Highlights are in their hundreds, but for the writer of this blog, the command of such a vast arena, without breaking into vocal on Night 2' opener 10th Avenue Freeze Out will live long.

Whilst the majority were locals, many, many European Springsteen fans as well as Americans descended on Barcelona for a party weekend, that most will surely savour for a lifetime.

Over the course of 2 tremendous nights, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, put Barcelona on top of the World, he isnt the King of Spain, but for those nights he might as well have been.

San Sebastian savours Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

Beginning a run of 4 shows in Spain to complete the Magic European Tour of 2008, a crowd of 35,000 have seen another stellar performance from Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.

The show comes in at just over 3 hours. Patti Scialfa has rejoined the Band. Highlights as ever are a full Band Incident on 57th Street, the opening Tunnel of Love, and fellow album classic Tougher than The Rest

The Marathon Man in Helsinki!!

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, have given a marathon 3 hour 10 minute performance in the Olympic Stadium Helsinki. In one of the best shows of the tour, a crowd of 45,000 play a big part in a memorable evening. Highlights include an 'out of season' Santa Claus is comng to Town' a classic Youngstown/Murder Incorporated segment, and the magical sequencing of Born In The USA after A Long Walk Home.

Glory Days in Gothenburg

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 'came home' to Gothenburg, and gave 2 outstanding performances to a total crowd in excess of 100,000 people at the ageing Ullevi Stadium, scene of previous triumphs in 1985, and 2003. Almost 6 hours of songs are played over 2 outstanding nights, including a rare but expected 'Born In The USA' opening July 4th proceedings, and followed thematically by Independance Day later in the set, as well as the classic Ballad 'Sandy' (4th of July Asbury Park). The second night is even better including an emotional performance of 'Drive All Night'. Crowds at both shows are probably the best of the tour so far, as a whole city welcomed Bruce and Band. Truly memorable performances, one's that will live for a very, very long time
